There are basically two ways to offer additional audio or language versions for live video streaming.

Each language version is published as an additional A/V stream.
For this purpose, the audio signal for the synchronized translation is produced on-site. The audio is then encoded together with the video signal and published as a separate live channel via the IMS streaming server network. Alternatively, the IMS “A/V Sync” feature can be used to encode only the additional audio signal and synchronize it with the (single) video signal on the server side. This saves on-site encoding hardware and bandwidth during upload. The various A/V language versions are selected via the player controls.

Each language version is produced as “audio only” and synchronized on the server.
With a special IMS module, the service from LiveVoice – our partner for simultaneous translation – can be integrated into an event page. LiveVoice enables remote translation. This means that translators can produce the corresponding language version from any location and make it available in the cloud simultaneously. The module is integrated into the event page with the available languages. When a language version is selected, the original sound is automatically muted in the video player, and the corresponding audio version is streamed live. The original sound can also be added (at a lower volume) if necessary. Only an A/V signal is produced on-site. The entire translation service is thus completely outsourced, and no additional effort is required on-site.
